The National Tariff Commission of Pakistan announced today its conclusion of sunset review investigation for the continuation of definitive antidumping duties on Deformed Concrete Reinforcement Steel Bars imported from the People’s Republic of China. Following this determination, antidumping duties on these imports, commonly referred to as Rebar, will remain imposed for an additional five years at a rate of 19.15%.
The imposition of antidumping duties during the original investigation successfully leveled the playing field in the domestic market. This measure not only facilitated the growth of the domestic industry but also fostered an environment conducive to the entry of new players and the backward integration of existing Rebar producers. We hope that the continuation of these antidumping duties will further shield the industry from the detrimental impacts of dumped imports for the next five years.
